Bikes For Kids WI: Everything Bikes Fundraising Sale

Bikes for Kids Wisconsin, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing the use of bicycle-based transportation for everyone, will be hosting its annual Everything Bikes Fundraising Sale on Saturday, May, 10, at the bike center located at 354 Coyier Lane, Madison, WI 53713. The hours of the event are 10:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. The event will take place rain or shine. 

Each year, Bikes for Kids Wisconsin distributes 2,000 bikes for free to people most in need in the community and teaches Bike Mechanics classes for area youth. Bicycles are donated to Bike for Kids by the public throughout the year, then they are refurbished by volunteers and tuned up by staff to ensure safety before being distributed. 

The Everything Bikes Sale supports programming and the costs to maintain a 12,000 sq. ft. bike center. The organization has now distributed over 13,000 bicycles in Dane County and beyond since their first bike giveaway event in 2017. They have also prevented over 84,000 pounds of materials going into the landfill through their free Community Bike Disposal Program. Bikes for Kids is seeking sponsors of this event. The sale on May 10th will include something for everyone interested in biking. Hundreds of bikes will be available including high-end road bikes, new and used e-bikes, folding bikes, hybrid and mountain bikes, kids bikes, tandems, and vintage bikes dating back to the 1950’s. Accessories for sale will include bike trailers, tagalongs, car racks, bike trainers, a wide array of parts, bags, mirrors, clothes, shoes, and more. You'll see some of the best prices on bikes in the city at this sale! Cash and card sales will be supported. 

The bike center is currently open to the public Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for bike sales and repair services. Every purchase is reinvested back into the organization so they can continue their efforts making bicycling sustainable, equitable, and affordable for everyday transportation for all.

Formerly known as Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison, Bikes for Kids Wisconsin is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that held its first bike giveaway in Madison in spring 2017.
