Ah, Oktoberfest! A festival where beer intertwines with history and culture!
Historically speaking, the Festival began on October 12th 1810, when King Louis I of Bavaria married Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen (a very Germanic sounding name, indeed!). Eight years later, food and drink would be served at wooden booths at this event, which became a state agricultural affair. Eventually the booths of the early festivals would later transform into the large beer hauls by the late 20th century. Nowadays around two million gallons of beer are served annually at this wonderfully unique tradition that all started with a union of two royals.
Unfortunately for you, Waterford won't have two million gallons to sell - their Fitchburg store isn't that big. Fortunately for you, you won't need to travel to Germany, sit through a monarchical pageantry, or pay anything to sample select Oktoberfest beers. This tasting event will be guided by their store's exceptional beer expert, Wayne.
Stop by Waterford on Saturday, October 26th from 1:00 - 3:00 to enjoy a carefully chosen selection of Fest biers, representative of the different versions.
This is a free tasting event that will include 4 American and 2 German Oktoberfest beers for you to taste!
Hope to see you there!
