This 5-day experience at the BTC Institute is for students entering 11th or 12th grade in fall semester 2026 who are interested in healthcare, biology, and diagnostic science. Students will learn how biotechnology supports clinical patient care by performing hands-on activities such as extracting and analyzing DNA, using PCR to detect disease-related genetic material, examining cells under the microscope, and working through real-world diagnostic cases. Along the way, students will meet professionals from clinical laboratories and learn about career pathways in medical laboratory science, pathology, and molecular diagnostics. Completion of at least one year of high school biology is recommended.
