You’re invited to Madison Public Art Project’s (MPAP) upcoming Community Crochet Day. The MPAP is always looking for new ways to connect art & community. Our upcoming installation, The Wildflowers of Wisconsin, will be a large fiber mural by artist Rebecca Burbach. In creating this exciting mural we are inviting the community to crochet the individual floral elements that will make up the larger composition.
The workshops are designed to be fun and informal. No art experience is required. Join us at the Park Pavilion for a beautiful evening of crochet fun. Yarn supplies and a crochet hook will be provided for use upon arrival. If you have a crochet hook you can bring it with you (medium). Each session Rebecca will instruct from a pattern she created how to crochet each flower. Join us for multiple worships and learn how to make many different flowers!
The Wildflowers of Wisconsin is a fiber art installation comprised of oversized crocheted flora native to Wisconsin that will be on exhibition at McKee Farms Park. This project invites the community into the art-making process, raises awareness about climate change, and encourages greater stewardship of the land.
This is a creative way for neighbors to connect with each other and become part of the public art process. Art holds the power to connect communities together and to educate and inspire. Children must be accompanied by an adult for duration of program. Join us to help create this exciting new public art installation!
All experience levels welcome.
Local crochet enthusiasts encouraged to register.
